The Artists' Eye Exhibition, Hackney Museum
Marcin's work is exhibited at Hackney Museum. The project is titled: 'We Dig for Matchbox Victory!' and was prepared in collaboration with London based writer and friend - Alistair Siddons. 'This work explores changes in the architecture around the Olympic side and the effect these had on a sense of belonging in the area. It tells the story of a team of Matchbox diggers and construction toys who were made homeless when their Lesney factory was demolished to make way for a smart apartments. The toys heroically travelled to the Olympic side afer a piece of the action, only to find it looks more like a prison than a new home. The style of the piece is deliberately simple, recalling the look and feel of Ladybird books. The toys depicted are all vintage Lesney from the 1950s and 1960s, referring to a bygone era of austerity and "fighting back".
